You can forgive Corinne almost anything when she sings...
Her warm and personable style, her beautiful chocolate-like voice, her heartfelt songs and her confident and candid banter onstage create an atmosphere where the listener feels like they are sharing in something personal and special. Her voice will silence a noisy room and make you feel like the lyrics she’s singing were written for you only. And it’s this special intimate style that sets her apart and makes the critics take notice.
You listen to MELT and realize the songs have so many different influences: pop, rock, Celtic, country and a little bit of smooth jazz with a twist. "I can honestly say that I wasn’t thinking of genres when I was writing songs for Melt. I just followed my instinct and intuition."
Another reason that makes this album so extra special is that MELT has been a true collaboration. A handful of her closest friends have guided Corinne along to creating it. "I have had the privilege of working with so many of my friends and people I really admire. It marks a very significant time in my life".
When asking Corinne what she wants to achieve with the release of her new album she will leave no doubt - flaunting her big, warm trademark smile: "Worldwide success! I would love as many people as possible to hear MELT."
> MELT DVD
MELT - the DVD - is an unprecedented audio-visual experience.
Each of Corinne Gibbons' songs on the MELT album is accompanied by a stunning video clip directed and edited by Australian film-maker, Toni Houston. Five years in the making, the footage was taken all over the world, including unique scenes from the Arctic, Antarctica, South America, the Mediterranean and Europe. The footage comes courtesy of Lindblad Expeditions.
Perfectly complimenting Corinne's lyrics and tone, the DVD takes the audience on a magical tour; a seamless fusion of multi-cultural portraits, exotic animals - including polar bears, penguins and seals - and dramatic landscapes of ice, desert, and metropolis.
MELT - the DVD - is an extraordinary marriage of vision and music; a multi-sensory journey that promises to resonate deeply with both live and home-theatre MELT audiences.
> Album Cover Inspiration
The inspiration for the album cover came from Nikoi Island, an Indonesian island close to Singapore. We were on location filming for the Melt DVD and Stu took this photo of me on one of my favourite beaches there.
The back cover has a silhouette picture of me (incidently on Nikoi again) sitting in the Lamere Passage which is the gateway to Antarctica.
My friend Daiki designed the covers and really brought his own flair to the concept of MELT.
