Corinne did a couple of choral singing workshops for the teachers covering breathing exercises, melodies and songs in 4-part harmony. What a great and talented group that was :-)
The conference was organized by Pat's Schoolhouse.

If I could be a kid again and listen intently to music and bang on drums and not care what my mummy thought! Well, the kids at Bright & Shiny today could do all that ... and more.
Corinne started bright & early today ... with a workshop for little kiddies ... and then a performance at the Jacob Ballas Children's Garden which was organized by Playeum. Jennifer, Sumi and their Playeum team put together a great program for children under 7, which allowed them to explore multi-sensorial experiences: sound, light, visuals, colour ... all through art. Well done!! It's always a joy watching kiddies follow their intuition through expression.
I have to give a special mention to Amit Gilboa, who was adjacent to us and doing a fantastic job with his percussion class ... sometimes event pitching in and accompanying Corinne.
Oh, I forgot to mention that Dr Amy Khor, who is the Mayor of South West Community Development Council and also the senior parliamentary secretary of the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources was there to welcome us off ... what a great start!
And Antje, Stephan, Zoe, Sealey and co ... thanks for coming :-)

Then bring your kiddies to the Jacob Ballas Children's Garden (behind Botanic Gardens - by Bukit Timah Road) where Corinne will be performing for the kids and also doing a singing workshop, all part of the Bright and Shiny event organized by Playeum.
Let your kids enjoy the beauty of song and sound this coming weekend :-)

The purity of kids is just soooo inspiring!!
I finally edited the videos that we took when we did a show for the Telok Bakau Junior School in Bintan, Indonesia ... organized by Nikoi Island.
As you may remember Corinne Gibbons, Saul Rayo and Elena Powell did a 60 minute session for the kids ... that absolutely melted all our hearts. And here are two videos that are bound to put a smile on your face ... one is about dogs ... and the other about cats (my favourite!)

Nikoi keeps impressing!
After a successful Club Acoustica performance on Saturday, we got up early this morning and took a speed-boat to Bintan to do a performance for Telok Pakau Junior School). The diffused sunlight on the boat ride across was unbelievable … little did we know that our exuberance on the boat ride at 0715 am was going to be topped by 120 little kids singing!
The Island Foundation was setup by Nikoi Island to help the local Bintan communities develop in a sustainable manner. Education is one of the main focuses with which Nikoi builds its relationship with the local communities. And this is how this concept came about. Andrew Dixon from Nikoi had asked us if we would be willing to do a 1-hour performance for a local school … sing a few songs, interact with the kids, simply have fun with them. And Corinne, Saul Rayo and Elena Powell were of course more than excited to share some songs with the juniors.
Little did we know that we would walk out of the school at 9am on a complete high. To see the kids smile of joy, sing, clap and scream … your heart simply opened up to all the love in the room. It's the simple things in life that often have the biggest impact.
Great initiative Nikoi!

I tell you ... it's been a day full of kiddie activities :-) ... and I'm even considering having some of my own after seeing all these ever soooo cute boys and girls playing around. Don't worry ... only considering!!!
As part of the IndoChine Green Festival that is being organized in Singapore coinciding with the APEC meeting, the renowned Singapore Artist Sun Yu-Li with the collaboration of 100's of tiny little hands, is preparing a Peace of Art, which is a giant canvas that is being painted on this very minute. Children from various Singaporean schools will over a couple of days leave their own mark on this canvas (and a lot of paint seemed to be going onto their T-shirts and their hair instead of the canvas!!) ... and to end, Mr Sun Yu-Li will add his own master touch.
The canvas will be presented and auctioned at the IndoChine 10 Year Anniversary Party on November 12.
Corinne and I dropped by his studio on beautiful Emily Hill ... and while there, Corinne entertained and captivated the kids in some sing-alongs. Even I joined in 'Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star' ... that's about the only song I knew!
And that's when I thought ... I could have a couple of these!!!

I've heard the songs that Corinne wrote for Jungle Book, for she's been playing and rehearsing and re-writing them for weeks now! Yet today ... she invited me to see the Jungle Book show that the Singapore Repertory Theatre is putting on at the DBS Arts Centre.
And to see the songs in context with the storyline, delivered by the fantastic actors in the play ... and to watch the kids full of joy dancing to the songs and posing a million questions to all the animals ... your heart just starts to smile. It's a fantastic feeling to see the innocence of kids respond to the excitement of a play with no inhibition.
The show is on from November 5 - December 13 and is selling fast. Make sure you take your kids to see it, believe me ... you will also be singing along to the snake song.

Corinne's been locked up in her room with a piano and guitar composing 8 (I bet I have the number wrong!!) songs for the new children's play Jungle Book which will be premiering soon. The new play will be adapted and directed by Michael Corbidge.
The play will be held at the Singapore Repertory Theatre from November 5 - December 13 and the songs are sounding groovy. It's supposed to be for adults ... but even I can't help and boog-ay to them :-)
If you love me shake your tush like th-is ...

This morning Corinne and Toni did two free promotions for MELT at the Australian International School and Tanglin School. Given that we're doing a family show on Saturday morning ... we thought it would be great to share the MELT story with kids at a few schools ... so that they can then entice their parents to come to the concert :-)
It was such a fantastic experience. When Corinne walked onto the makeshift stage ... the kiddies went wild! They were screaming and clapping ... and were just so jovial and energetic and enthusiastic. That's the beauty of kids ... they are totally uninhibited!
