Fundraiser for Lupus at Clarke Quay

Yes, she did it!  And I didn't even see it.

On Wednesday night, Kate Reyes, DJ from LUSH Radio, invited all her friends to model clothes from local designers in support of Lupus.  The event happened at The Pump Room in Clarke Quay and as far as I know, was a success.

The reason I say that is that I got all dressed up, thinking I'll be able to go in ... but after arriving to the event, and watching the girls get all dolled up ... I was not allowed into the venue for it was a private event.

Not to worry.  I wasn't the only one.  There were a lot of 'support' people left outside :-)  So, we ordered beer, some snacks, chatted away, socialized, caught up, met some wonderful new people and had a great evening.

The way I see it ... Corinne was working the inside crowd and I was working the outside crowd ... ha, ha!

Don't have the official photos yet ... but as soon as I get a few ... will post them.

Yep ... You heard it right! She offered to sing ... But they said no, you gotta model!

And me? I've arrived way to early and am sitting here watching paint dry ... And makeup being applied to all the gals. A man's life :-)

CLUB ACOUSTICA @ Red Sea Gallery last night was a total success!

WOW ... what an energized evening we had last night!  If you only had heard the crowd of 60 singing along to the Beatles!  They were brilliant!

After a 6 month hiatus, Club Acoustica @ Red Sea Gallery is back in full-force.  And last night's dedication to the Beatles was a complete success!  Corinne Gibbons, along with Australian opera singer Eddie Muliau, Singapore's own Alemay Fernandez, 13-year old Zack Hourihan and Paul Searles on keyboard and harmonica brought out all the classic hits from this most amazing of all-time bands.  And since the songs are so popular, and the champagne was free-flowing ... it just made for a perfect environment where everyone felt included, comfortable, surrounded with love and ready to have some fun on a Thursday evening.

Club Acoustica would have not been possible if not for the following sponsors:  The Henley Group, Brut and Rose champagne from Chandon and of course the Red Sea Gallery for providing such a beautiful and intimate venue.

We've got several shows planned for 2010 ... so get ready.  We will be informing you of the dates shortly ... and the themes.

For those of you that were not there, we're preparing a 3 min video clip of last night's performance and we will be posting it shortly.  The 3 min clip will give you an idea of what the Club Acoustica formula is all about:  a medley of different performers, a common theme, relaxed environment, fun, participatory crowd, high energy, free-flowing champagne and a great setting.

Corinne sings at Spirit of Enterprise gala dinner

Another day, another performance.  Yeah!  Lately it's really been hectic with performances ... which is brilliant.  Rather this ... than to have nothing to do!!

Corinne was to sing one song at last night's Spirit of Enterprise gala dinner at the InterContinental Dinner in Singapore ... but they wanted more, and more, and more ... so she ended up doing several songs.

But it's 'Small on the Outside' ... a song dedicated to Singapore ... that seemed to have touched everyone's heart.

IndoChine Green Festival 2009

Another exceptional evening at the IndoChine Green Festival ... Corinne snapped her G-string last night!

I know what you're thinking, for that's what I was thinking as well when she said it on stage.  However, what she meant is that the string on her guitar (G note I would imagine ... don't know much about guitars) snapped and was just hanging off her guitar.  Not best of news when you're playing acoustically!!

And that's when you realize what a professional she is ... and super-talented as well ... for from then on it was 100% improv.  She had a whole list of songs she was going to sing, but with no guitar ... everything changed.  She ended up doing a stunningly moving acappella rendition of Imagine by John Lennon, some songs from her album MELT, Hey Jude, and so on ... perfect songs to get the Peace message across to the IndoChine crowd.

I was very proud of her ... for she did a brilliant job and handled the situation masterfully.  Even more ironically, the team from IndoChine came to ask me if she could do a few more additional songs, for the following act hadn't arrived yet.  Thank god she can sing!

IndoChine 10 Year Anniversary Party

What a brilliant night we had last night!  The sound system may have been giving problems throughout the night, however, the whole evening ended up being a complete success.  Especially if you gauge it by how many people were dancing on the catwalk at 1 in the morning!

The evening started with the beautiful and talented Therese Neamie singing songs from her last album ... followed by Corinne who sang Rise, Melt and One Voice from her recent album MELT ... including the stunning visuals that were being projected onto all the screens around IndoChine.  Fabulous!

And to end ... the 11 piece band from Sweden ... Cotton Club ... which brought out the dancer in all of us!

Tonight was a sit-down dinner for around 400 pax ... tomorrow night, the IndoChine Green Festival ... packed with people ... and great acts ... including Corinne.

Come to IndoChine Friday night ... it's party time!

IndoChine 10 Year Anniversary Party - sound check

Holy moly it was hot today during the sound check!  We came there at 11 am and the sun was just scorching ... so Corinne had to get our good friend Kevin to hold an umbrella over her head to shield her from the sun!

By lunch time we were done ... happy with the sound ... and all set for tonight's IndoChine 10 Year Anniversary Party ... yeah!

Oh ... as we were having lunch at IndoChine, a torrential downpour comes our way!  Ahh, life in the tropics :-)

Peace of Art

I tell you ... it's been a day full of kiddie activities :-) ... and I'm even considering having some of my own after seeing all these ever soooo cute boys and girls playing around.  Don't worry ... only considering!!!

As part of the IndoChine Green Festival that is being organized in Singapore coinciding with the APEC meeting, the renowned Singapore Artist Sun Yu-Li with the collaboration of 100's of tiny little hands, is preparing a Peace of Art, which is a giant canvas that is being painted on this very minute.  Children from various Singaporean schools will over a couple of days leave their own mark on this canvas (and a lot of paint seemed to be going onto their T-shirts and their hair instead of the canvas!!) ... and to end, Mr Sun Yu-Li will add his own master touch.

The canvas will be presented and auctioned at the IndoChine 10 Year Anniversary Party on November 12.

Corinne and I dropped by his studio on beautiful Emily Hill ... and while there, Corinne entertained and captivated the kids in some sing-alongs.  Even I joined in 'Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star' ... that's about the only song I knew!

And that's when I thought ... I could have a couple of these!!!
