I am so thrilled with the reaction to my album and DVD so far, thanks so much to all of you who have purchased MELT - really appreciate it!
Stonehenge was an incredible place to kick-off Melt in the UK - I have to say I had no idea what I was in for prior to leaving and to be perfectly honest I was really astonished that the opportunity and invitation came about so quickly … I have my dear friend Anne to thank for this.
We were walking through Macritchie Reservoir one morning and Anne and I were discussing my intention to do 7 concerts 7 continents and how I was going to achieve this ... then Anne randomly suggested that I should really consider singing at STONEHENGE - "I can see you singing out over the moors my dear, just like Guinevere!" ...
That afternoon Anne wrote to a colleague of hers in the UK and to cut a long story short - I received an invitation to perform at the summer solstice 2009 AT STONEHENGE!!! I was on a plane within two weeks of my conversation with Anne and this really affirms my belief - anything is possible!! Helps to have inspired facilitators like Anne who possesses a positive nature and is a very determined woman … a believer.
So I pop off the plane in the UK, I arrive and there is no line up at immigration - I walked through in about 3 minutes flat - now THAT is a first at Heathrow … I felt it was a sign :-)
I hooked up with my dear friend Steffi who accompanied me to Stonehenge - was so lovely to share this experience with her. We were amongst some very interesting folks indeed: Thomas our new friend, who has been part of the druid order for many years and is a fascinating English philosopher, the Arch Druids of Stonehenge - King Arthur incarnate and many other colourful characters.I sang out over the moors and really had an intense and powerful inspiring moment, especially when the crowd sang silver flame with me "live the life you love to live and give the love you love to give".
I sang MELT as the sun rose over the stones and I felt at that moment that this moment was meant to be. It was truly magical.
One thing that I felt quite strongly whilst I was in Stonehenge was a unique sense of belonging to this history - I don't know how to explain it better than that I have an affinity with the place and the people, I felt very at ease and connected spiritually to the place and the people.
I visited Avesbury the next day and this feeling was even more potent here - this is one place that I will return to, the feeling of soft femininity was so calming and so serene. I met the arch Druid of Avesbury and shared a pot of tea and we exchanged all sorts of ideas and speculations on life.
I did feel that a part of my brain got reactivated by my conversations in the wonderful county of Whiltshire.
We attended the Estedford run by the Brilliant Thomas Daffern and sat around the table with people who are passionate about all they do in working for peace and the planet.... really special - it's nice to be in a room with a whole host of people on the same page.
I won the music award and I also won the holy grail award for my contribution to the planet - It was a wonderful acknowledgement and a lovely thing to share with my co-creators Stu Hunter and Toni Houston.
Mosied back to London - saw Priscilla - AMAZING - if you are in London and you want to have a great night out listening to music that makes you want to leap from your seat !!(which I did) Please go and see Priscilla - you wont be disappointed.
Then I went on to the ACDC concert at Wembley with some friends - this was a lifetime dream to see these guys - I am a very big fan, I am from country Australia - this music is part of me !! When I got my first bass guitar I was so excited to learn Back in Black … to this day it is one of my favorite bass lines to play.
Then back on a plane to sunny Singapore - again a very straight forward and easy time at Heathrow - it's a sign of things to come :-)
I arrived back in Singapore to be told that we have just had a MELT show confirmed in Toronto for ASAE - 8000pax !! R and B - you rock!! Also Golden Village Singapore would like to host a MELT show and Gibson Guitars would like to sponsor me … yeehaa!
Loads to set up, Bojan is the whiz on that front.
So begins the next chapter ...
I fly to Toronto and land in the lovely land of Canada for my third time - although one of my trips was simply to have breakfast in Montreal to get a stamp in my passport - ahhhh youth … I was there for literally an hour and then I high-tailed it back to NYC.Anyway I digress.
I arrive at the beautiful Fairmont hotel feeling a little shattered from my 30 hour journey.... yowza!
Next day I meet the crew who have been working on my show for the past month - such a great team at PCI and super easy to work with!!
We do sound check and I am so excited to be back on such a great stage ... sporting my new j45 gibson with a massive five screen back drop to facilitate MELT's multi-sensory experience.
The show was terrific - there was a lot of twittering going on and people were downloading my song MELT as I was singing it - we live in such an immediate age!!
Loads of CD sales and meeting lots of music lovers - all good! Thanks ASAE and Toronto for such a warm welcome.
From Toronto to NYC and a meeting with Lindblad - we are going to be working more together in the future - keep you posted on developments there.
Then off to OZ and a series of meetings in Sydney and Melbourne re publishing, distribution and radio play for MELT … then five days off to visit with my Mum! Superb! A three week journey in total and I am ready to go home.
Back to sunny Singapore and I jump straight into working on my show with Golden Village, this is the ideal environment for MELT, the cinema that is, and with such a supportive crew we had a wonderful night on Sept 15th and beautiful audience and a very positive kickoff to what I know will be a fruitful partnership!! Thanks for giving away such a beautiful Epihone guitar as a lucky door prize Gibson crew - it was amazing that the lovely girl who won PLAYS!!! I just LOVED that!I am about to collaborate with the MDA on a project - will update you soon on this, meanwhile I am keeping out of trouble writing the music for Jungle Book which is really spesh - working with the supremely talented Michael Corbidge!!
