What an awesome venue! And night!
Last night we went to the East Coast Park location of Timbre Mobile to listen to Singapore based Corinne Gibbons and Opshop from New Zealand perform live. What a great way to end the weekend ... which BTW for me started on Thursday night and had me a little bit exhausted by last night!! So all the more impressive that I had such a brilliant evening.
First of all .. what an amazing setup! Located mysteriously adjacent to the C1 parking lot on East Coast Park, this green opening close to the beach has a mobile stage, bar and modular tables and chairs made out of funky plywood boards. Totally cool and eco-friendly. Now, the sound system is out of this world. All the more impressive for this is a temporary setup. Listening to great bands on a kick-ass sound system is a rush. And the menu, albeit simple, is all you really need for such an evening. A glass of beer and great pizza served on wooden cutting boards to add to the musical performances.
The concept of Timbre Mobile is, well, that it's mobile. It stays in each location for 4 months and then moves on. April is the last month at this location, after which I think it moves to the West Coast.
And I hear they have live music every night, except Monday nights. Danny and the Timbre Group ... well done. Fantastic concept!
So come over for a casual night of great music, in an outdoor casual setting and excellent pizza & beer. And if it's your first time ... come a bit early ... this parking lot is a bit hard to find!!
